Luther Burbank Gardens

It’s free! Just walk onto the grounds of Luther Burbank’s house and garden. Luther was an outspoken eccentric that created over 800 NEW plants. He didn’t think children should go to school until after age 10, but instead learn about life outside. He considered himself an infidel stating (in a church) that “I love everybody and everything ” and “no good God would burn people in Hell” He liked to literally use his sofa to climb the walls inside his home. And everybody who was anybody visited him. Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Jack London, Paramahansa Yogananda, and Helen Keller (for whom he planted a powerful scented garden that you can still smell today). Use your cell phone to tour the garden and listen to 28 historic fun facts. -BF
